    Emmanuel Daniel is the Director of Smart Buildings & Campuses in the Center of Innovation at Microsoft Real Estate & Security. In this role he is responsible for building and delivering the Digital Transformation strategy for campuses across Microsoft. He leads a multidisciplinary team of architects (business / technical) and experience designers. He builds experiences that merge technology with the built environment, leading to the formation of spaces that respond to the needs of it users. As part of this role, he puts in place the strategy for identifying the next generation of products that will make more Smarter & Sustainable Buildings. Previously he was the Director, IoT & Smart Buildings, Singapore where he was responsible for the success of the Smart Building Business across Asia & the Middle East. He had direct accountability for driving Strategy, Delivery, Execution and building out the Partner Eco-System. Emmanuel’s leadership has led to key wins for Microsoft in Australia, Singapore, China, Israel, Japan, India, Saudi Arabia, Oman, & Dubai. Emmanuel lives in Sammamish, WA. He enjoys spending any free time he gets with his family.

    Smarter Buildings and a Changing Utility – A Vision of the New World of Energy

    The conference kicks off with a moderated discussion featuring senior thought leaders in the technology and utility sectors. Panelists include Mary Kipp, CEO of Puget Sound Energy, Debra Smith, CEO Seattle City Light, and Ed Schlect, CSO of Avista Utilities, Stephanie Greene of the Rocky Mountain Institute, and Emmanuel Daniel of Microsoft. Moderated by Ash Awad, President and Chief Markets Officer of McKinstry, this panel will discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the energy industry and how that affects the built environment. A new cleaner and more flexible electrical grid is coming. These changes will be facilitated in part by smart building technologies and practices built on the fast-growing power of cloud computing and information technology services. This is sure to be an exciting and informative discussion which will frame issues getting discussed throughout the subsequent two days of the conference.
