Jonathan Heller

Jonathan Heller is the President of Ecotope and has dedicated his professional career to improving buildings for people and the planet. He has been actively involved in the building industry since 1986 as a researcher, designer, and consultant with a focus on energy efficiency, emerging technology, and decarbonization. As a researcher, he has taken a whole-building approach to examining the details of what drives energy use and ventilation in buildings and how new techniques and new technologies can be applied to drive energy use down while improving the health of the occupants. As a mechanical engineer, he has applied his research of new technologies and sought ways to simplify building and systems design to eliminate the need for mechanical systems where possible with the intent to reduce the size and complexity of solutions. His consulting work has been focused on taking the learnings from research and design experience to extend proven solutions to the marketplace through codes, policy, and programs to impact the building industry at scale.
